- Seizures (not very common)
- Very bad watery diarrhea caused by Clostridium difficile
- If you have major side effects, you should go to the doctor right away.
How it works
- 4.5 gram of Pipzo The injection has:
- Piperacillin (4 g)
- Penicillin-like antibiotic that breaks down the walls of bacterial cells, killing them.
- Tazobactam (0.5 g)
- A beta-lactamase inhibitor that keeps resistant bacteria from breaking down Piperacillin.
- They work together to destroy a lot of different types of bacteria, including Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic ones, even ones that are resistant.
Medicine Interaction
- Be careful when using with:
- Drugs that hurt the kidneys
- Amikacin and Gentamicin are aminoglycosides.
- Vancomycin
- Diuretics (Furosemide)
- Blood thinners
- Warfarin (may raise INR and the chance of bleeding)
- Methotrexate
- Higher risk of toxicity
- Probenecid
- Raises the levels of piperacillin
- Blockers of the neuromuscular system
- Could make muscles relax more
- Let your doctor know about any antibiotics or IV drugs you are currently taking.
How to Use
- Only a doctor or nurse in a healthcare facility can provide it.
- Given by an IV, usually for 20 to 30 minutes.
- The usual dose is 4.5 grams every 6 to 8 hours, depending on how bad the infection is.
- The length of time depends on how well the treatment works (typically 5–14 days).
- In serious infections, you should not miss or delay doses.
