Uses / Indications:
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) – particularly when monotherapy is inadequate.
Preventing cardiovascular problems include stroke, heart attack, and heart failure.
Protecting the heart in people who are likely to have heart problems.
Protecting the kidneys in those with high blood pressure, especially those with diabetes.
Pregnancy interaction:
Cresar AM 80mg/5mg Tablet is a combination of Telmisartan (80mg) and Amlodipine (5mg). These two medicines work together to lower high blood pressure (hypertension) and stop cardiac problems like heart attack and stroke.
Pregnancy: ❌ Not safe during pregnancy.
Telmisartan (ARB) can seriously hurt an unborn fetus, especially in the second and third trimesters. It can cause the kidneys of the fetus to fail, low amniotic fluid, or issues with growth.
Amlodipine may be safe to use in early pregnancy, but you should avoid using it with this combination for the rest of your pregnancy. If you get pregnant while taking this prescription, stop right once and talk to your doctor.
Not suggested to breastfeed.
Both Telmisartan and Amlodipine could get into breast milk and hurt the baby.
Expert advice:
If you want to get pregnant, don't take this. Instead, move to a safer option.
To keep your blood pressure consistent, take the tablet at the same time every day.
Don't stop quickly; this can cause your blood pressure to rise again.
Stay away from foods high in potassium, like bananas, coconut water, and oranges, as well as salt substitutes, as these can elevate potassium levels.
Limit how much alcohol you drink because it can make you feel dizzy or sleepy.
Tell your doctor if your ankles swell, your chest hurts, or your heart beats fast.
Check your blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes on a regular basis.
Drink enough water, but don't get dehydrated because it can make your blood pressure drop.
Side Effects:
Feeling dizzy or lightheaded
Tiredness or weakness
Amlodipine might cause your ankles or feet to swell.
Flushing (becoming hot and red)
Pain in the head
Stomach pain or nausea
Side effects that are serious:
Low blood pressure (hypotension)
High potassium (hyperkalemia) — heartbeats that aren't regular and weak muscles
Kidney problems—less urine, edema
Allergic reactions can cause a rash, itching, and swelling of the face or throat.
Pain in the chest or trouble breathing
If you get severe dizziness, swelling, or trouble breathing, call your doctor right away.
How to use:
Take one pill every day, just like your doctor told you to.
Do not crush or chew the tablet; just swallow it whole with a glass of water.
Take it every day at the same time, ideally in the morning.
You can take it with or without food.
Take your missed dose as soon as you recall. Skip it if it’s almost time for the next dose — do not double up.
Keep it below 25°C and out of the sun and dampness.
How it works:
Cresar AM 80/5 Tablet has two drugs that work together to lower blood pressure:
Telmisartan (80mg) is an Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) that stops the effects of angiotensin II, a substance that makes blood vessels narrower. This makes blood vessels relax. This helps lower blood pressure and make the heart work less hard.
Amlodipine (5mg) is a calcium channel blocker (CCB) that stops calcium from getting into smooth muscle cells. This relaxes and expands the blood vessels, which makes blood flow better and puts less stress on the heart.
They work better together to manage blood pressure for a longer time and lower the risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart failure.
Faq for medicine:
What is Cresar AM 80/5 Tablet used for?
When one medicine isn't enough to regulate high blood pressure (hypertension), this is what it's used for. It helps keep you from having a heart attack, stroke, or kidney problems that can happen when you have high blood pressure for a long time.
Q2. Is it safe to take Cresar AM when pregnant? ❌ No. It is strictly not allowed during pregnancy since it could hurt the fetus.
How long does Cresar AM take to work?
You might detect a change in your blood pressure after two weeks, but the best results come after four to six weeks of consistent use.
Q4. Is it possible for Cresar AM to make you dizzy?
Yes. This is especially true when you first start taking it or if your dose goes up. To avoid feeling lightheaded, get up carefully after sitting or lying down.
Q5. Should I take Cresar AM in the morning or at night?
You can take it every day at the same time, usually in the morning, with or without food.
Medicine interaction:
Be careful when using Cresar AM with:
ACE inhibitors or ARBs (such Enalapril or Losartan) may make renal issues or high potassium more likely.
NSAIDs (such ibuprofen and diclofenac) can make it harder to control blood pressure and hurt the kidneys.
Diuretics (water tablets) may make dehydration or low blood pressure worse.
Potassium supplements or salt replacements can raise potassium levels.
Beta-blockers and other antihypertensives can make blood pressure too low.
Lithium: there is a danger of lithium poisoning.
Amlodipine may raise the levels of simvastatin or other cholesterol-lowering medications.
