How It Works
- Telmisartan stops angiotensin-II from working, which relaxes blood vessels and reduces blood pressure.
- Amlodipine: Relaxes the muscles in the arteries, which makes blood flow better and decreases blood pressure.
- HCTZ: Gets rid of extra salt and water, which lowers blood volume and blood pressure.
- This three-drug combination lowers blood pressure strongly and for a long time, making it great for hard-to-treat or resistant hypertension.
Medicine interaction
- Potassium-sparing diuretics (like spironolactone) can raise potassium levels.
- ACE inhibitors / ARBs – danger to the kidneys
- Lithium—poisonous
- NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Diclofenac)—less effective and hard on the kidneys
- Antidiabetic medicines—HCTZ may change blood sugar levels
- Corticosteroids might lower potassium levels.
- Digoxin—an imbalance of electrolytes makes it more toxic
- Alcohol makes you feel more dizzy.
- Grapefruit juice raises the levels of amlodipine.
How to Use
- Take one pill per day, ideally in the morning.
- Take with water and swallow whole.
- You can take it with or without food.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you can unless the next dose is coming up soon.
