Metformin is a biguanide that reduces glucose synthesis in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and improves insulin sensitivity. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of complex sugars into simpler sugars like glucose. This keeps blood glucose from rising dramatically after meals.
