How It Works
- Rosuvastatin is a statin that stops the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase from working. This lowers cholesterol production in the liver and raises HDL ("good cholesterol").
- Fenofibrate is a fibrate that activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors (PPARα) to speed up lipid metabolism and reduce triglycerides and VLDL cholesterol.
- They work together to make lipid balance better, stop plaque from building up, and keep your heart healthy.
Medicines interaction
- Aluminum and magnesium antacids lower the amount of Rosuvastatin that is absorbed.
- Warfarin raises the risk of bleeding.
- Cyclosporine increases the levels of Rosuvastatin.
- Gemfibrozil and other fibrates raise the risk of muscle damage.
- Erythromycin and clarithromycin may increase the amount of statin in the body.
- Drugs that are harmful to the liver or alcohol put more load on the liver.
- Always let your doctor know about any medicines, supplements, or herbal products you take.
How To Use
- Take one pill every day, and try to do it at the same time.
- You can take it with or without food.
- Do not crumble or chew; just swallow whole with water.
- Keep taking your medicine even if you feel OK. Cholesterol problems often don't show up until later.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless your next dose is coming up shortly.
- Don't take twice as much.
