How It Works
- Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that:
- Stops topoisomerase IV and gyrase from working on bacterial DNA
- Stops bacteria from copying their DNA
- Kills germs that cause infections
- Works against a lot of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.
Medicine Interaction
- Be careful when using with:
- Aluminum and magnesium antacids → ↓ absorption
- Taking calcium, iron, and zinc supplements makes them less effective.
- Steroids increase the chance of tendon rupture.
- Antiarrhythmic medicines → ↑ chance of heart rhythm problems
- NSAIDs → very small chance of having a seizure
- Blood thinners (Warfarin) => ↑ chance of bleeding
- Do not take Ofloxacin and vitamins at the same time. Wait 2 to 3 hours between them.
How to Use
- Before you use it, shake the bottle well.
- Use the measuring cup or dropper that comes with the medicine to figure out how much to take.
- You can take it with or without meals. Taking it with food makes your stomach feel better.
- Take the precise dose that your doctor told you to, based on your age and weight.
