Odirox 300mg Tablet is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is used in infections of tonsils, sinus, ear, nose, throat, skin and soft tissues, windpipe and lungs (pneumonia).
Pregnancy interaction:
Odirox 300mg Tablet is probably safe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effect on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. Please consult your doctor.
Expert advice:
Odirox will cure your infection and improve symptoms. It may cause an upset stomach. If this happens to you, take it with food. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools. Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Odirox.

How it works:
Odirox 300mg Tablet is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins, which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Is Odirox an antibiotic? : Odirox is an antibiotic and belongs to the group of antibiotics known as macrolides. Odirox prevents bacteria from growing, by interfering with their protein synthesis. |Can I take Odirox with food? : Odirox is to be taken on an empty stomach at least 15 minutes before a meal. The Odirox tablets should be taken with good amount of water. |Does Odirox treat streptococcal throat infection? : Odirox is used to treat throat infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. It is also indicated for other upper respiratory tract infections like tonsillitis and sinusitis. If you think you are suffering from a streptococcal throat infection, please consult your doctor as it requires proper diagnosis before the start of antibiotics.|Can I take Odirox with codeine? : Odirox can be taken with codeine. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two. However, this does not mean that interactions cannot occur. Please consult your doctor before taking the two medicines together.|Does Odirox treat urinary tract infections (UTI)? : Odirox can treat lower urinary tract infections i.e. infections of the urinary bladder and urethra. Odirox belongs to a group of antibiotics known as macrolides. |Does Odirox affect the contraceptive pill (birth control pills)? : Odirox can decrease the level or effect of estradiol (a component of contraceptive pill) by affecting the normal bacteria in the gut and you may need to take an extra precaution. However, dizziness may occur when you have just started taking Odirox. Hence, driving, operating machinery or other skillful activities should be avoided if you feel drowsy.|Does Odirox treat Chlamydia? : Odirox is active against chlamydia species and is used for the treatment of infections caused by chlamydia. Odirox is a macrolide antibiotic.|Is Odirox same as erythromycin? : Odirox and erythromycin are two different antibiotics which belong to the same group known as macrolides. However, they differ in the way they behave in the body. Odirox, as compared to erythromycin, is more acid-stable and reaches better concentrations in blood and is active against more bacteria as compared to erythromycin. Please consult your doctor before taking any antibiotics.|Is Odirox safe for breastfeeding? : Small amounts of Odirox are excreted in the breast milk.
