Description:
Pregnancy Interaction
- Be careful when taking this drug when pregnant.
- Paracetamol is usually safe to take during pregnancy if you follow the suggested doses.
- Chlorpheniramine is thought to be low-risk and is routinely used to treat allergy symptoms during pregnancy.
- Phenylephrine: Not safe to take during pregnancy since it can lower blood flow to the placenta and raise the mother's blood pressure.
- Caffeine: It's normally fine to have a moderate amount, but you shouldn't have too much.
- Overall, only use it if a doctor tells you to and you really need it.
- Paracetamol is safe to take while breastfeeding, although small levels of caffeine and chlorpheniramine may go into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before using.
Faq For Medicine
Q1.What is this drug for?
It is a mix that helps with headaches, fever, sinus pain, stuffy noses, and the usual cold and flu.
Q2. Is it safe to consume when pregnant?
Only with a doctor's permission. The phenylephrine part can make it harder for blood to circulate to the fetus, especially in the first trimester.
Q3. Is it safe for me to drive after taking this medicine?
Chlorpheniramine can make you sleepy and blurry, so don't drive or use machines.
Q4. Is it okay to drink alcohol while taking this medicine?
No. Alcohol makes you sleepy and puts stress on your liver (particularly when you take paracetamol).
Q5. How long does it take to get results?
People normally feel better from headaches and fevers within 30 to 60 minutes, and nasal congestion may go better within an hour.
Q6. What should I do if I forget to take a dose?
Take it as soon as you remember, but skip it if it's almost time for the next dose. Don't take two doses.
Q7. Is it safe for kids?
Children should only use the pediatric formulation. Without a doctor's advice, don't give adult tablets to anyone under 12.
Expert Advice
- To avoid stomach distress, take with food or milk.
- Drink a lot of fluids to help clear up your congestion.
- To avoid overstimulation, stay away from meals and drinks that have caffeine in them, like coffee, tea, and cola.
- Don't take any other product that has paracetamol in it at the same time.
- If symptoms last longer than 5 days for adults or 3 days for fever, stop using and see a doctor.
- Tell your doctor if you have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or a thyroid problem.
- Don't use sedatives, alcohol, or other antihistamines at the same time.
Side Effects
- Normal:
- Chlorpheniramine can make you sleepy or dizzy.
- Caffeine and phenylephrine can make you nervous, restless, or unable to sleep.
- Upset stomach, nausea
- Mouth, throat, or nose that is dry
- Pain in the head
- Very serious (rare):
- Heart rate that is too fast or too slow
- High blood pressure
- Damage to the liver (from taking too much paracetamol)
- Allergic rash, edema, or trouble breathing
- Get medical care right away if you have serious allergy or heart problems.
How It Works
- This drug has four active components that work together in different ways:
- Paracetamol (500 mg): An analgesic and antipyretic that lowers pain and fever by stopping the brain from making prostaglandins.
- Chlorpheniramine (2 mg): An antihistamine that blocks H₁ receptors to stop sneezing, watery eyes, and a runny nose.
- Phenylephrine (5 mg): A nasal decongestant that narrows blood vessels in the nasal passages to reduce swelling and congestion.
- Caffeine (25 mg): A mild stimulant that makes you more awake and makes paracetamol work better to relieve pain.
- They work well together to treat many cold and flu symptoms.
Medicine Interaction
- Let your doctor know if you are taking:
- MAO inhibitors or antidepressants (such selegiline or isocarboxazid) can cause serious changes in blood pressure.
- Other medications that contain paracetamol: Risk of liver damage.
- If you take beta-blockers or blood pressure drugs, phenylephrine may make them less effective.
- Chlorpheniramine can make you drowsier when you take sedatives or drink alcohol.
- Products with caffeine or other stimulants: These can make you feel anxious or keep you from sleeping.
- Rifampicin or anticonvulsants may make liver enzymes work harder, which could make paracetamol less effective.
- Always give your doctor a complete list of all the medicines you use.
How to Use
- As needed, or as directed, take one tablet every four to six hours.
- In 24 hours, you shouldn't take more than 4 g of paracetamol (typically 8 tablets).
- Do not crush or chew the tablet; just swallow it whole with water.
- Because it has caffeine in it, you shouldn't take it close to bedtime.
- Without talking to a doctor first, don't use it for more than 5 to 7 days.
