- Tell your eye surgeon before cataract surgery that you are taking silodosin, which might cause floppy iris syndrome.

How It Works
- A blocker of alpha-1 adrenergic.
- Muscles of:
- Prostate
- Neck of the bladder
- Gets better:
- Flow of urine
- Having trouble starting to urinate
- Weak stream
- Having to go to the bathroom a lot and quickly
- Dutasteride (0.5mg):
- An inhibitor of 5-alpha reductase.
- Stops testosterone from becoming into DHT (dihydrotestosterone).
- Slowly makes the prostate smaller and slows down the growth of the prostate.
- The combined effect is that silodosin quickly relieves symptoms and dutasteride slowly reduces the size of the prostate.
Medicine Interaction
- Important Interactions:
- Antihypertensive medicines → higher chance of having low blood pressure.
- Strong antifungals (such ketoconazole and itraconazole) raise the amount of silodosin.
- Macrolide antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin) → more adverse effects.
- HIV drugs (such ritonavir and indinavir) make silodosin levels quite high.
- Other alpha-blockers cause a big reduction in blood pressure.
- Warfarin could change INR, thus you need to keep an eye on it.
- Food and alcohol interaction:
- Take it after you eat.
- Stay away from alcohol (it makes you more likely to get dizzy and faint).
How to Use
- Take one pill per day, generally after dinner.
- Do not crumble or chew; just swallow whole with water.
- Take it every day at the same time.
- If you forget a dose, take it when you remember. If it's close to the next dose, skip it.
- You shouldn't stop taking the medicine without talking to your doctor first.
