Description:
Pregnancy Interaction
- Glycodin Syrup is usually seen to be safe to use during pregnancy as long as the right amounts are used.
- But it should only be used with a doctor's supervision, especially in the first trimester, because there isn't much information about how it affects people.
- Studies on animals have not demonstrated that the fetus is harmed.
- Small amounts may go into breast milk when breastfeeding. Only use if your doctor says it's okay, as it may make the baby sleepy.
- Overall: Be careful while using during pregnancy or breastfeeding, and only do so when the benefits are greater than the hazards.

How It Works
- Glycodin Syrup is an antitussive, which means it stops coughing.
- It works on the cough center in the brain (medulla oblongata) to make the cough reflex less frequent and less strong.
- When used correctly, it doesn't make you sleepy or dependent like codeine does.
- So, it helps with a dry, annoying cough without making it hard to breathe or getting you hooked on it at typical doses.
Medicine Interaction
- Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following:
- MAO inhibitors (such selegiline, isocarboxazid, and linezolid) can cause significant problems including high blood pressure or serotonin syndrome.
- SSRIs and antidepressants (such fluoxetine and sertraline) can cause serotonin syndrome.
- Alcohol, sedatives, or antihistamines can make you sleepier.
- Other cough and cold medicines—taking too much of the same chemicals might lead to an overdose.
- Don't take it for 14 days after starting MAO inhibitor medication.
How to Use
- Take the dose precisely as indicated on the label or as your doctor says.
- You can take it with or without food every 4 to 6 hours.
- Take tablets or capsules with water. If you are using syrup, use an appropriate measuring spoon to get the right amount.
- Do not take more than the suggested dose.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it when you remember, but skip it if it's almost time for the next one. Do not take twice the amount.
