How it works:
Acenocoumarol stops vitamin K epoxide reductase, which is needed to turn on clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X in the liver.
This makes it harder for blood to clot, which stops thrombi from forming and growing.
➡️ Effect: Stops stroke, DVT, PE, and other problems that come from blood clots.
Faq for medicine:
1. What is Acitrom used for?
To stop and treat blood clots in the heart, lungs, and veins:
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
Preventing strokes in people with atrial fibrillation
Stopping blood clots from forming in artificial heart valves
2. How long do I need to take Acitrom?
The length of therapy depends on your disease and might last anything from a few months to the rest of your life.
3. Is it okay to quit taking it right away?
Not ever. Stopping suddenly raises the danger of blood clots.
4. Are green leafy veggies okay for me to eat?
Yes, but make sure you eat it regularly. Changes in vitamin K levels that happen quickly can change how therapy works.
5. Do I need to have blood tests on a regular basis?
Yes. It is important to keep an eye on INR (International Normalized Ratio) to make sure that anticoagulation is safe.
6. What happens if I forget a dose?
Take it on the same day as soon as you recall.
If it's almost time for the next dose, don't take the missed dose.
